Happy fourth!

Nothing Ever Happens turns four tomorrow.

I remember creating the ASP.NET blog engine at my place in Lavender Bay, coding at night on a Dell Latitude listening to the rain outside. Amazing.

Since then I have changed jobs twice, written a book, moved across the world and abandoned the custom-made blog engine in favour of WordPress. Oh well. All for good!

So. Happy fourth!

Laetril

I have started another blog. Yeah I know!

I named it Laetril and it’s in Spanish. My goal is to discuss a variety of topics on the way we knowledge workers carry out our jobs, and I decided to start it after a few (Spanish speaking) friends and colleagues asked me about related issues that I have been mentioning here and in some informal chats.

I am aware that by writing in Spanish I am making it hard for some of you out there; however, writing in English would make it as hard for some others. And since NEH is already in English, I thought that a Spanish-language forum would make sense.

So here I am. Have a look at Laetril!

And welcome to NEH 2!

Yes.

Good old Nothing Ever Happens has transmogrified into this cooler, slinkier, chachier look and feel, which delegates all the dirty work of blogging to awesome WordPress so I can focus on enjoying the sound of my own typing and nothing more than that. ;-)

I have moved all the posts and comments in the old site to this new one. From now on, the old URL http://www.verdewek.com/blog redirects here, http://neh2.wordpress.com. Please update your links and favourites accordingly if you will. Thanks.

So, enjoy!

And let me know what you think. Please. Thanks.

Comments and trackbacks disabled

I am disabling comments and trackbacks to this blog due to the massive amount of spam I’ve having in the last few hours. I plan to re-enable them shortly. You can reach me by email if you need to.

Sorry!

Consultoría artesana en la red

I’m so used to the mediocrity that surrounds us, and so ashamed to admit it, that dropping by Consultoría artesana en la red, Julen Iturbe’s blog on IT consulting services, is like climbing up a ladder from a revolting, glum and humid belowground cellar and coming into a crisp and sunny winter day.

What’s even more surprising is that Julen and I are so geographically close to each other!

Subscriptions

I have just added a new cool feature to the blog. You will see a new menu item on the top left corner of the screen, “Subscriptions”. You will also see that the link bar under each post, in addition to the old “Permalink”, “Comments”, etc., now shows a new “Subscribe” option.

Subscriptions let you enter your email, select the posts or post categories you are interested in, and voilà. You will receive an automatic email notification each time that something interesting happens.

If you are interested in following a particular post, click on “Subscribe” on the link bar under it and enter your email. From that moment on, you will receive an email notification each time the post changes or a comment is added to it.

Latest activity

I have just added a “Latest activity” link to the main menu at the top left of the screen. By clicking there you can see which posts, comments and trackbacks have been added to the blog recently.

Happy 2

Today this blog turns 2 years old. Happy birthday!

Thanks to all the readers and commenters. Please keep coming.

Statistics

Just added a “Statistics” link to the main menu of this blog. Find it on the top left of the screen and check out some figures about this blog.

Joel’s best

Joel Spolsky has posted his best article ever. Not only it says important things. It is also beautiful.
